How do I join the library?

You need come to the library (in Raszyn or Jaworowa) with an ID document. First you will fill in a membership form to confirm that you have read the library rules and agree to the processing of your personal data. If you are under 16, your parent or guardian must sign for you. You will then be issued with a library card.

You will need your library card to borrow books. But if you forget it, a photo of your card taken with your smartphone will do. 

Can a child join the library?

Of course. A child of any age can become a member. Parents or guardians are responsible for the borrowed items.

Can I join the library if I don’t live in the Raszyn Gmina?

Yes. We do not charge an entrance fee for non-residents.

What are the library opening hours?

Raszyn (ul. Poniatowskiego 20):

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: 11am to 7pm
Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9am to 4pm
Saturdays (check the dates here): 9am to 1pm

Jaworowa (ul. Warszawska 95):

Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: 10am to 6pm
Thursdays: 10am to 4pm
Saturdays (check the dates here): 9am to 1pm

How do I know if the library has the book I want?

You can find out if the library has the book you want by checking the library’s online catalogue or by emailing us at:  info@bibliotekaraszyn.pl, jaworowa@bibliotekaraszyn.pl.

How many books can I borrow at one time?

You can borrow up to 5 items at a time (books, audiobooks, magazines, films, board games).

How long can I borrow library items for?

30 days – books, audiobooks, magazines, films

14 days – board games.

Can I extend the loan period?

Yes, if the item has not been requested by another member. Renewals can be made in person, by telephone, by email or over the Internet (via the Member Digital Account).

What happens if I don’t return the book on time?

You will be charged PLN 0.10 per day for each overdue book and PLN 1.00 per day for each overdue audiobook, film or board game.

What if I lose a library book?

Just tell the librarian and we will find a solution.

Do I have to be a member to use the library’s reading room (for materials and computer/Internet access)?

No. All you have to do is sign the visitor’s book in the main hall first. Internet use for non-study purposes is limited to 60 minutes.

Can I print out from the Internet or make photocopies of book extracts or scan documents?

Yes, please contact the librarian on duty. The price list for black and white and colour photocopies is available in the main hall. There are limits for printing and photocopying. Scanning is free.
